The Unknown Work of Magritte


Soon the book will be published by Rene Magritte. This new work was found in “Catalogue Raisonné VI” which attracted about 130 previously unknown works of Belgian surrealist. The paintings and sketches, or have not been published before, or only recently received authentication experts. Such a large number of unknown works were found in the surrealist Magritte Foundation: they get there five years ago, thanks to the efforts of Art by David Sylvester......

Subject to some of the published  book of paintings and graphic works  surprise even for an artist like Magritte: in the catalog of the present, which show, for example, eggs in a cave, a woman with a tail, flowers with human bodies and a huge spoon, based on Pisa tower. Also in the book you can find illustrations of the erotic novel of George Batalla "Madame Edward" and a new version of a series of drawings "Words and Images".

In September of the following year at the New York Museum of Modern Art are planning to hold an exhibition of Magritte art. The Mystery of the ordinary 1926-1938", which will include part of the work of the new catalog. They will then be shown to the public at the Chicago Art Institute and the Menil Foundation in Houston.
