Interior designers should be shaking their heads at this one.  For $17.99, on Amazon.com consumers can buy this fake grass garden charging station.  

The reasoning behind this odd invention: to hide charging cables with the “scenic grass” Apparently, “…gadgets will think they’re on a charging vacation.”

So, if in the market for a charging station, consider your gadgets’ feelings first rather than your eye health. This product coins a new meaning to the saying, “ Aren't you a sight for sore eyes.”

Cell phone Bike Horn

Beep beep! Stop hogging the road! For $11.39 on Cyberguys.com, that’s what bike enthusiasts could be shouting with the help of this cell phone bike horn.

Who would have thought that a standard bike horn wasn’t enough? Instead, this odd technological invention uses a phone’s internal speaker morphing a phone into one expensive (but working) horn to hang up on some handlebars.

Interested? I hope your cell phone has collision insurance.

This four-in-one pen is perfect for the secret agent in all of us. With the use of the Cell Pen Buddy, a simple ballpoint pen is transformed. A built-in sensor lights up when nearby phones receive incoming or outgoing calls; a UV LED light can check for counterfeit money; and an emergency light serves as a handy tool in dark situations.

It’s perplexing to determine when paranoia became such a marketable commodity. What happened to just having a good ole’ ballpoint pen?

iGrill iPhone Meat Thermometer

This handy dandy device allows iPhones to read the internal temperatures of meat. Combining a raw meat reading gadget and a cellphone simply seems inconvenient and unsanitary.

But, for less than $100, places like Amazon.com and Groupon.com thought it was a great device worth marketing this summer season.

When many meat thermometers are already pocket-sized, there seems little appeal for the iGrill which connects into various Apple-compatible devices. Between this gadget’s awkwardness and the potential for salmonella, some gadgets simply don’t seem well-thought out.

Edible iPhone 5 Case

This last ticker is the most bizarre. When looking for a new phone case, you often look for durability and a good design. What many don’t consider, is a case’s nutritional value.

The Senbei Rice Cracker iPhone 5 Cover, which is made by hand, uses brown rice and salt. This Japanese commodity, while humorous, offers an unusual cover design with little to no actual protection. In-fact, this edible iPhone 5 cover may even break in the delivery or dispatch process.

For $64 U.S. dollars plus the $12 shipping fee, I hope it’s one unusually tasty treat.

It’s humorous to see what odd mobile gadgets come on the market as technology advances. With every 10 great new tools out, it feels like another 50 odd balls are created.
