Wikimedia’s Most Viewed Images of the Year

A few days ago announced the winners of the seventh annual Wikimedia Commons POTY Contest of most viewed images of the year, and the top 12 finalists are equally good as in previous years (2012). With more than 3,990 votes, Pierre Dal (user: Kookburra 81) took home the top award for his picture of European bee-eaters.

The 1st round of voting began in mid-January, and the 2nd round starts at the beginning of February. Considered photos were to be chosen among the chosen pictures in 2012 (more than 750 photos).

August 31, 2012 the long string of solar material that is contained in the atmosphere of the Sun, "crown", space at 4:36 pm. The coronal mass ejection was moving at a speed of more than 1450 kilometers per second. Emission was not directed toward Earth, but united with the Earth's magnetic environment, or magnetosphere, causing auroras on the night of Monday, September 3.

High-speed photography lights on which was shot from a pneumatic gun (to the right of the lamp). The camera was running a solar cell, which was located in front of the gun.

These long-haired oxen live across the Himalayan region of south Central Asia, the Tibetan Plateau and the far north of Mongolia and Russia. In the Tibetan economy is dominated by subsistence agriculture. Because of the limited availability of arable land, the primary occupation of the Tibetan Plateau is the breeding sheep, cattle, goats, camels, yaks and horses. The Tibetan yak is an integral part of Tibetan life.

Though astronauts and cosmonauts often encounter striking views of the Earth, a unique image is a series of colorful horizons of the Earth, has an additional feature: the silhouette of the space shuttle Endeavour. The view was photographed by a crew member of Expedition 22 to the International Space Station. Orange layer of the troposphere, where all weather and creates clouds that we normally see. This orange layer gives way to a whitish stratosphere and then the mesosphere. In some frames the black color is part of the window frame, not the blackness of space.

Arlington was built in 1380 as a monastic wool shop. These buildings have been converted into weaving cottages in the 17th century.

  2. Yeah maybe you are right Linda but nowadays there are pretty famous online printing companies out there in the market like zazzle, moo, uprinting, printrunner and vista printing etc so these things are getting competitive day by day.
